Danville, IL – In the return game at Danville, Lincoln College couldn’t return the favor and dropped the road doubleheader 10-6 and 3-1. In game one, LC’s Jaime Valdez went 2-4 scoring two runs and Casey Arnold also added two hits and a walk. Logan McDanel drove in three runs. Matt Winscher threw four innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on five hits, walking six and striking out one. John Hinch came in relief and pitched two innings giving up three earned runs on four hits while strking out one.
Lincoln scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at six before DACC answered with three runs in their half of the fifth to take the lead for good. DACC added an insurance run in the sixth inning to make the score 10-6.
In game two, Lincoln won the hit battle 6-5 but couldn’t push across enough runs to get the win, instead losing 3-1. Hayden Radford through a complete game but was pegged with the loss throwing six complete allowing three runs, two earned, five hits, two strike outs and three walks. Offensively for the Lynx, Blain Ray, Justin Renoud, Logan McDanel, Casey Arnold, Shaquez Bond, and James Macklin each had one hit apiece. Ray doubled and scored the lone run for the Lynx.
Coach Thomas commented, “Overall, I was very pleased with the way we battled and competed all day. We came back in game one to tied it and got great pitching in game two. If we get this type of effort every game, we will continue to improve our overall play.”
The tough weekend pushes the Lynx overall record to 9-12 and 3-9 in the MWAC. Lincoln will be back on the field on Thursday, April 14 when they host Quincy University JV for a scheduled 1:00pm DH.
